When you feel that your mole is getting extremely painful, it means that the inflammation is getting worse. It also means that the bacterium is spreading. Thus; you must contact your doctor or dermatologist as soon as possible for a solution.

Reasons of infected mole

Majority of people tend to think that infected moles are just a reaction to some type of skin irritation. Although it is sometimes harmless, here is a need to take it seriously sometimes as there are other reasons you mole gets infected.

  • Scratching

This is the most common way to develop an infected mole. People tend to scratch an itchy mole to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling. The problem is that scratching the mole itself will definitely lead to a cut in the skin.
The cut ends up infected and catch bacteria which will later on spreads.
Women are the most common category who gets infected moles due to their long and sharp nails. This is why you must refrain from scratching your mole, or scratch softly around the area but not directly on it.

  • Skin sensitivity

In case you have sensitive skins do not touch your mole. If you try any home treatment you might cause your skin condition to worsen. Sensitive skin means that your infected mole will probably get irritated and inflamed practically by anything.
This is why your need very careful and consult your doctor to receive the appropriate treatment as soon as possible. Also if your skin is overly sensitive avoid wearing uncomfortable clothing or sharp jewelry.

Some special case

Other than the cases mentioned above there are other ones which are noteworthy to list as well and here are some:

  • Swollen infected mole

If your mole starts to swell with signs of shape change and color it is very necessary to consult your dermatologist. Your case might develop into a melanoma and your doctor will decide if a biopsy is needed or not.

  • Mole infected hair

Sometimes the infected mole has a hair growing out of it. This hair gets trapped under the sin and leads to your infection. After a while it turns red, and becomes painful and you must take the hair out to relief the infection.

  • Follicle infected mole with puss

It is possible for a hair follicle to cause you infection. If your mole is on your head area for example hair follicle can cause it to inflame by accidentally combing your hair and scratching it. Your infected mole will then will hurt, swell and probably bleed. This will lead your mole to ooze with puss from the infection. Do not worry because it is not harmful, but visit a doctor for treatment.
